Citizen Ride-Along Program Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a police officer or dispatcher? The Norwalk Police Department provides interested citizens the opportunity to observe the daily operations of the department. Citizens will see the types of tasks performed daily by our officers and/or dispatchers. To participate in the "Citizen Ride-Along Program" you must be eighteen years of age. Citizens who wish to participate in the "Citizen Ride-Along Program" must submit a written request to a shift supervisor for consideration. Citizens are only permitted to ride-along when a captain or sergeant is on duty for the affected shift. A criminal background check and a check for outstanding warrants or protection orders must be completed prior to someone participating in the program. Participants in the program are limited to no more then eight hours on any date. Requests may be denied at the discretion of the shift supervisor when it interferes with the effective operation of the shift. It is required that participants sign a waiver and release from liability agreement before riding with a uniformed officer. If you have any questions, please contact the Norwalk Police Department at (419) 663-6780. |
